DRIVE AND MOTOR CONTROL SALES

Variable Frequency Drives and Soft Starters can save you money on operating costs and increase the service life of your electric motors.

Using a soft starter or variable frequency drive temporarily reduces the load and torque as well as the inrush current of the motor during start up.  This reduces the mechanical stress on the motor and shaft, and reduces the electrodynamic forces on the attached power cables and electrical distribution network, extending the lifespan of the system. If you are interested in saving energy in your plant, consider variable frequency drives (VFDs) for your motors.  Research supports that they help save energy, reduce maintenance and cut utility costs. Both AC & DC drives have a history of proven results.

Need More Motor Control? Vary the Speed of Motor Operation:

Variable frequency drives (VFD) control electric motors by varying their voltage and frequency during operation. Applied Dynamics offers drives that are very easy and efficient to use, offering powerful control solutions with exceptional speed control and torque response which provides superior vector performance.  Learn more about our variable frequency drives by contacting us.

These products improve your systems by providing improved speed control, flow control, pressure control, tension control, torque control and acceleration/deceleration control. Applied Dynamics offers a selection of AC and DC drives, as well as soft starters and other motor control options from many major manufacturers, including Yaskawa, Danfoss, Benshaw and Hitachi. Applied Dynamics has a team of experts to properly specify, commission, and tune your system.

Some industry applications cannot handle abrupt starts and stops. Electrical motors draw more current when starting than during operation which drops voltage, and can cause other electronics to shut down if not properly managed for certain applications. Our soft starters efficiently reduce the load and torque during startups and shutdowns which reduces mechanical stress over the lifetime of the equipment. Our product line of soft starters come in a variety of additional components to help multiple industries control and enhance their application. Learn more about our soft starters by contacting us..

Troubleshooting, Repair & Maintenance

The trick to troubleshooting variable frequency drives (VFDs) is to fix the problem and not the symptoms. When a fuse blows, is this the problem or a symptom of the problem? Of course we know it’s only a symptom; something is causing the fuse to blow. We can replace all the fuses we want, but the problem will still exists.

The VFD controller panel is the heart of the application. The VFD panel takes in a fixed voltage and frequency and gives out a variable voltage and frequency to the motor. In doing so, drive gives off heat. The bigger the drive, the greater the heat. Without proper cooling a drive will shut down on overtemperature.

Overtemperature and overcurrent go hand-in-hand. Sometimes the faults will even interchange. An overcurrent fault could be the result of overtemperature. A clean well-ventilated drive always seems to work better and last longer.  Overcurrent faults are the most common faults that will shut down a drive. There are at least 20 to 30 causes of over-current faults. Finding the actual cause of the fault in question is the challenge.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for assisting us in our recent machine installation project. Your people behaved with the professionalism, skill, class, and decorum that your company has over the years acquired a reputation for. I wish you good luck for the future and again my sincere appreciation for a job well done.

It was a pleasure meeting you and your team. Please extend my appreciation to them all. Knowing the mechanical end of the business is sometimes the easy part— dealing with various personalities is the challenge. Applied Dynamics appears to be able to handle both.

In the fast pace environment we live in today there never seems time enough to say the things to others that really mean the most. However, in this case, I am not going to let the opportunity pass by. All of us wish to say thank you to you and your people for the work performed on our six color miehle press. The quality of your work and the timeliness of your performance was nothing short of exceptional.
